The John Flynn College’s approach to academic support combines innovative practices with tried and tested means to provide a holistic network of support for learning. The overall goal is to cultivate a genuine learning community within the College whereby support is available and academic excellence is recognised and celebrated.
Our College supports students who have been identified as having difficulties with their studies. A number of measures are in place to prevent difficulties arising and to encourage students to reach their academic potential.
Residential Tutors and Residential Assistants are appointed annually. These student leadership positions ensure right relationships exist throughout our community. The College’s Deputy Principal and Academic Dean manages the academic services program with the assistance of an Academic Support Officer.
Support for learning is available to all students from the early stages of their undergraduate study. Students with disabilities, those with English as a second language, and mature students returning to study are supported in practical ways.
One condition of enrolment is that students participate in areas of the academic support program that are tailored for them. To this end, various offerings will be advertised through College networks during the course of the year.
